The forum drove me to drink. Remind me to thank it.
Ive not heard of people feed boiled rice before either, however rice products (oil, bran etc) are excellent for horses.

Im not sure how much nutrients would be lost, and how expensive it would work out to feed it this way...perhaps some RBO or Rice Bran would be a most cost effective way to feed it.

Interesting Smile

I think you can, as long as it has been boiled and NOT given uncooked.

Knew someone who fed their horse steamed rice a couple of times, but ended up not bothering, as cooked rice does not keep very long, and the hassle of cooking it up fresh every couple of days would do my head in!

Out of my way, I am in the midst of a hoo haa monologue
A friend of mine who was a racehorse trainer and also bred and showed appy's, fed all his horses boiled rice, they all did well and looked well. His theory was that many horse feeds - pellets, rice bran etc are all made from rice, so why feed the 'by product' of rice when he can feed straight rice. It has to be cooked till soft and he cooked it fresh each day.

Thats all well and good if he was feeding brown rice.

Rice bran is the by product of brown rice being turned into white rice.
